I realised something yesterday. Or more so, put words to something I already sensed:
All of my clients are people I’ve deeply respected and valued in their own right before we worked together.
Sometimes the client is someone I’ve known for years, so I’ve seen their stuff, their development and growth totally independent of any coaching relationship we have.
Other times, the client is someone relatively new to me but we’ve invariably had some connection along the shorter path, and I’ve always loved their style, content and way of being.
Respecting and appreciating them independently of our work has become such a vital part of our coaching relationship too.
I notice it makes the field more level – they are all excellent service providers in their own right. They don’t need me because they’re vulnerable and broken. They’d LIKE to work with me because they see the value in the empowered, gentle yet bold approach to building their practice and business to greater heights.
